Horn Glass Industries AG and GGC are joining forces to further minimise NOx emissions at glass melting furnaces with additional benefits

Duesseldorf, Germany, 23 October 2012: Horn Glass Industries AG (“HORN”) and GGC are joining forces to further minimise NOx emissions at glass melting furnaces with additional benefits such as production increase, quality increase and/or energy cost savings.

GGC is licensing their ggENOx system, today suitable for regenerative end-port furnaces only, to HORN with the goal to jointly expand this system to all type of furnaces.
The developments of ggENOx, AIF project KF 2579001HG0, have been finished mid 2012 with several industrial installations in operation.

With GGC’s system in combination with HORN’s proven innovations the past years today is able to offer new regenerative end-port furnaces with very low values long term and in the same time further optimizing the melting and combustion processes. For furnaces with a 2-burners-per-port-arrangement the magic target of 500 mg/Nm³ is absolutely realistic to achieve long term.“, Christoph Jatzwauk, member of the board at HORN and responsible for R&D in particular said.

The collaboration with HORN enables GGC to faster develop and implement new and innovative ideas with clear commercial benefits to our customers.“, Hans Mahrenholtz, MD of GGC added.

GGC and SVA Fernseh GmbH are joining forces to develop the next generation and intelligent furnace camera systems

Duesseldorf, Germany, 23 October 2012: GGC and SVA Fernseh GmbH, Hilden (“SVA”) are joining forces to develop the next generation and intelligent furnace camera systems to

• fast identify problems,
• changes,
• saving potential and
• options to increase productivity.

These camera systems will in particular visualise all type of flow pattern in the combustion atmosphere of any type of glass melting furnace.

The AIF project KF 2579002AB2, basis of the collaboration between SVA and GGC, will be finalised end of 2013.
IEVB, university of Clausthal, is the R&D partner responsible for the mathematical, graphical and flow basic developments.

Visualisation instead or in combination with CFD will be a significant step to better and faster understand glass melting furnaces. The collaboration with SVA will enable GGC to fast introduce the new system into the market.“, Hans Mahrenholtz, MD of GGC said.
Furnace camera systems in the future will do more than only displaying flames. A collaboration with GGC enables SVA to access innovative R&D resources.“, Axel Jürgens, MD of SVA added.
